As a Christian mum, I find great peace in scripture. Every morning I do what I call morning mindset, which is a part of my day that focuses on my spiritual and physical wellbeing. I do a prayer, journal, read scripture from the Bible, read a devotional from a separate book and a section from a Christian book. Following this, I do yoga or qigong and meditation.

Doing all of this helps to fill my cup up, take care of my body and spirit, and helps me grow closer to the spirit within and all around. Having a devotional to turn to each day can really help me to re-centre my energy and focus on serving my family better.

Why are Mothers Exhausted?

Short answer: we do a lot.

Hands up if you take on many tasks a day? Yep. I’m with you. I like a simple life. I like a quiet life. I like a peaceful life. Yet, I laugh at the ridiculousness of that when I am trying to squeeze so much into a day.

Break all the tasks down into each one at a time, and I am doing very simple, wonderful tasks that I love. Put them altogether, and some days it is like woah, breathe woman.

Whether I am cooking food for the dogs, baking our weekly bread, doing homeschooling lessons, going for a walk with the children and dogs, sitting down to do work, vac the house or actually having our afternoon quiet time, it all adds up.

We all have our way of doing things, our different desires, different lifestyles, different aspirations and priorities, but we all end up coming back to the same thing: we take on a lot.

Why do we create this madness for ourselves? We end up exhausted in our quest for greatness. One thing that helps to bring a sense of peace to my beautiful madness is prayer and reading the Bible. They both help redirect my heart back to the core of who I am and the life I am seeking to create for my family.
